Open Stock Photography
Open Stock Photography is a site that helps designers find free stock photography (or public domain photography). All images listed at Open Stock Photography come from Wikimedia Commons and as such can be used by anyone, for any purpose.
A unique feature on Open Stock Photography is the color search where you can pick a color from the color wheel or enter the hexadecimal code to find images that match a particular color. The feature requires patience as the site searches the extensive database for matching colors. Each entry comes with color swatches, full-size and thumbnail view, as well as links to crop / resize the image.
Fotogenika.net contains photos sorted into a handful of categories with subcategories. Images from this site "may be used freely for personal, educational and non-profit projects. You may not used them commercially, claim authorship and/or sell them."

Some categories only have one page of photos while others you need to click Next to see more. It's a well-organized site that's easy to use and has a lovely collection. Its submission page rules clearly indicate the site aims to provide high quality images and it shows.

The search results lets you know how many results it has found and whether you want it to display All, Large, Medium, Small, Color or B&W (black and white). All overrides everything including Color and B&W. If you have B&W selected and click All, then color images appear.

Preferences allow you to change the interface language (nine choices) and whether or not you want the results to open in the same window or in a new window.
Advanced search options let you select whether you want only images, animation or both; color, black and white or both and the picture size. When doing a search, the results page suggests other relevant keywords to help you narrow down or broaden your results. The thumbnail page displays the image size, source and info. Source takes you to the page where the image is located and Info provides the file size, image size, colors, URL and shows the page where it lives beneath the information. A nice search tool.
Ask.com Picture Search

The advanced search features words to include and exclude, location of the words, language, domain or site, geographical area and date modified. You can save the settings or restore the defaults.
Every image has two links: Info and Save. Info provides the file name, URL and the page where the image lives. Save puts the images in a "saved images" page so you can refer to them later. It's not for saving to your hard drive. Once you've saved images, click My Saved Results, which appears at the top of the thumbnails page. On the saved results page, click Edit to change the title, URL and description. Images can be saved in a new folder and you can add tags.
Each saved image has a check box. Click the box to check it and then you can move it to a folder, delete it, print it or email it. Saved images can be sorted by date or title. Very nice picture search engine, but remember the images in the search results may not be free for your use.
